Home Storage Workshops

Some people put food into storage to use only in emergencies.  Some are struggling financially to put healthy meals on the table for the family every night.  Some people remember powder milk and still shudder from the thought.  Some have dutifully stored wheat and other staples; but don’t know how to use them.  All are hoping they never see the day that they must start using the food storage.

Why?  It doesn’t have to be this way.

The food can be used daily.  This rotation will ensure that the food will stay good.  How many people have moved, only to find that cans or bottles were not sealed or preserved properly?  It is frustrating to have to throw away so much.  How scary would that situation have been if discovered during a time of emergency?

During these hard times everyone must do everything they can to save money.  You can carpool to save gas.  You can skip buying the large flat screen TV and new dining room set.  You can’t skip on buying food.  It is not a luxury item, it is a need.  Buying in bulk has always been more economical.

It is true.  In the past powdered milk could be stored on a shelf for years…  because no one wanted to drink it.  That taste cannot be forgotten easily, and is it supposed to be chewy?!?  Food preservation techniques have finally caught up with our taste buds.  We have demonstrated foods that people could not tell the difference between fresh and freeze dried fruit ingredients.  And more importantly, they actually enjoyed the powdered milk!

That barrel of wheat is sitting in your storage room.  You have no idea what to do with it, but you know it has something to do with that metal grinder thingy.

We are offering several workshops to show people how to use the products that are put into storage, for everyday use.  Each workshop will have samples, demonstrations, and handouts with directions and recipes.

Workshops held in our store are FREE! Check our calendar page frequently for upcoming classes.
